Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 30, 2026

This is a real privacy policy for a real company. We wrote it in plain English because legal jargon doesn't make anyone safer — it just makes policies harder to read. If something is unclear, email privacy@studyolo.com and we'll explain it like a person.

The short version

  • We collect account, learning, billing, device, diagnostic, and optional submission data to operate Studyolo.
  • Your learning data trains your experience, not our AI models.
  • We use Stripe for payments. They see your card info. We don't.
  • Microphone and camera access happen only when you choose those tools. Starting live voice sends microphone audio and transcript data to OpenAI.
  • We use first-party product analytics and Google Analytics. We don't use advertising-network pixels.
  • We don't sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
  • You can export or delete your data anytime.
  • We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Who we are

Studyolo, Inc. operates Studyolo at studyolo.com. When this policy says “we,” “us,” or “Studyolo,” that's who we mean. We're a Delaware corporation.

For anything privacy-related: privacy@studyolo.com

What we collect

We collect what we need to make the product work. Nothing extra.

What we don't collect: We don't track your browsing history outside Studyolo, read your contacts, request precise GPS location, build advertising profiles, or use third-party advertising pixels. We access microphone or camera data only when you deliberately use a recording feature.

How we use your data

Your data serves you. Period.

  1. Running the product. Your learning data powers the adaptive tutor, mastery assessment, and spaced repetition. When Studyolo knows you struggled with entropy but aced enthalpy, it adjusts your next exercise.
  2. Sending account and Studyolo emails. Password resets, billing notices, product updates, and learning reminders. You can unsubscribe from non-essential messages at any time; security and service messages still arrive when needed.
  3. Improving Studyolo. First-party product events help us understand where people get stuck. Google Analytics measures product-page usage, sessions, devices, and performance. First-party events can be linked to your account while retained; reports may be aggregated or anonymized before broader analysis.
  4. Keeping the service running. Server logs, error tracking, performance monitoring.
  5. Processing payments. Stripe handles all payment processing. We never store card numbers, CVVs, or bank details.

What we never do with your data: sell it, share it with advertisers, use it to train AI models outside your personal learning experience, give it to data brokers, or monetize it beyond providing you the service you're paying for.

AI-generated content

When you create a learning path, Studyolo generates curriculum, exercises, and assessments using AI. That content is created specifically for your learning context.

Depending on the feature, your prompt, learning context, response, or submitted media may be sent to OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Gemini. We use their business-facing APIs to generate or evaluate the material you requested. We do not use your personal learning data to train a general-purpose Studyolo model.

Live voice is separate. When you start a live voice exercise, your browser asks for microphone access and Studyolo sends microphone audio and transcript data to OpenAI. Studyolo stores the transcript and conversation metadata, but not the raw live audio stream. Audio or video that you deliberately upload as a submission is a stored file and follows the upload-retention rules below.

Cookies

We use essential session cookies and first-party analytics cookies.

The default Google Analytics measurement tag receives pseudonymous interaction, session, approximate-location, browser, and device information from product pages. Admin pages are excluded. External media can make requests to its provider only when it is present or opened, and that provider's policy governs its service.

Data retention

Each data class has a defined lifetime.

Your rights

Your data is yours. You have rights over it.

These rights apply regardless of where you live. If you're in the EU, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children's privacy

Studyolo is not designed for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you're a parent and believe your child has created an account, email us at privacy@studyolo.com and we'll delete it promptly.

For users between 13 and 18: you can use Studyolo, but review this policy with a parent or guardian.

Data security

No system is perfectly secure. We won't pretend otherwise. But we treat your data with the same care we'd want for our own.

Changes to this policy

We'll email active users about material changes at least 30 days before they take effect. Minor clarifications may happen without notice, but the current version is always here.
